The
Activity & Resource Center provides a comfortable place for older
adults to socialize, relax, and participate in a variety of planned
activities, including computer instruction, exercise
classes, band, chorus, book clubs, card clubs, and field
trips. In just one day, the
Activity & Resource Center may serve up to 70 seniors, through

Adult
Day Care Center
 |
The Adult
Day Care Center provides social stimulation and organized daily
activities
with limited supervision and low to moderate nursing care under the
supervision of a
Registered Nurse. The goal is to provide assistance to
families who desire to
keep loved ones in the home. In just one
day, 25 participants will
arrive from all corners of the county for a full day of social
interaction, physical/mental
stimulation and nursing services. Their caregivers are able to go
to work or take respite, knowing their
loved ones are in the caring hands of expert staff. |
Meals
for Seniors
 |
Nutrition
is a
big part of staying healthy over 60.
In just one day, the
Nutrition Department will serve about 170 people at eight meal
sites
throughout Story County and deliver 90 meals directly to seniors’
homes. In some cases, this provides their only opportunity
for a hot,
nutritious meal. |
Outreach
 |
Outreach
specialists make personal contact and offer assistance to over 200+
older adults each month. Programs include: friendly visitor, bill
payer, and gatekeeper. Assistance is available with energy assistance
forms, rent/tax reimbursements, farmer’s market certificates and
Medicaid applications.
In just one day, three
Outreach
Specialists will make approximately 20 phone contacts with the frail
elderly of the community and personally visit 15 others, linking them
to necessary community resources.
|
Transportation
|
Transportation
services are provided throughout Story County to
residents of all ages, but are primarily used by residents over
60.
With a 13 vehicle fleet, rides are provided for doctor’s appointments,
dialysis, congregate
meals, grocery shopping, errands,
or leisure.
In
just one day, the Transportation
Department will provide 200 county-wide rides. |
