Heartland’s Annual Variety Show
When the idea of a senior variety show, starring Story County adults over age 60, was presented in 1994 by staff member Betty Boccella, it was scheduled as a one-time fund raising event.  It has since become an annual event and has grown in participation, attendance, and anticipation.   Now each year over 100 talented performers play to an  audience averaging 1,100 spectators at Ames City Auditorium, and the show has become a favorite August community tradition. 

Heartland’s Community Trivia Night
In 2007 Heartland’s Marketing Committee launched Community Trivia Night.   The goal is to acquaint a younger audience with Heartland and to encourage intergenerational connections.  The Trivia Nights are held quarterly and average between 150-200 participants.
