  Heartland Senior Services Programs

Activities and Resources  The Activity and Resource Center provides a comfortable place for older adults to socialize, relax, and participate in a variety of planned activities. These activities include: computer instruction, exercise classes, band, chorus, book clubs, card clubs and community “field trips”. This program accounts for approximately 7% of the overall operating budget.

Adult Day Care  The Adult Day Care provides social stimulation and organized daily activities with limited supervision and low to moderate nursing care. The overall goal of this program is to provide assistance to families who desire to keep loved ones in the home longer. This program is supervised by a Registered Nurse and accounts for approximately 22% of the overall budget.

Nutrition  Nutrition is a big part of staying healthy over 60.  Heartland serves approximately 425 meals a week at nine meal sites throughout Story County and delivers 240 meals directly to seniors' homes per week.  In some case this provides their only opportunity for a hot, nutritious meal.  This program accounts for approximately 23% of the overall
budget.

Outreach  Outreach specialists make personal contact and offer assistance to over 200+ older adults each month. Programs include: friendly visitor, money management, and gatekeeper. Assistance is available with energy assistance forms, rent/tax reimbursements, farmers’ market certificates and Medicaid applications. This program accounts for approximately 15% of the overall budget.
