Heartland Senior Services enriches the lives of older adults in Story County and provides support for their families and caregivers. Adult Day Center CNA

We are looking for dynamic individuals who take pride in their work, are dependable, caring and have a passion for working with the elderly and have a good understanding of Dementia. Our mission is to provide the very best person-centered care for our participants, to enable them to stay in their homes longer. We are committed to providing a caring, nurturing, FUN environment for our participants and are looking for dedicated staff to assist us.

Heartland Adult Day Center in Ames is looking for Full or Part Time CNA’s to join our team. Primary responsibilities include assisting participants with daily living activities, assisting with scheduled activities, documenting, monitoring and reporting daily changes and care of participants, serving meals and snacks and providing exceptional person-centered care to our participants.

NO weekends, Evenings or Holidays

Outreach Specialist & Meals on Wheels Supervisor

Headquartered in Ames, Heartland serves those 60 years old and above who reside in Story County. This position leads and manages staff members in a manner consistent with the agency’s values and provides direct service to clients when appropriate.

Examples of Administrative Duties: program planning, train/monitor staff on program specific software, personnel management, record-keeping and completing monthly reports required by funders.

Examples of Direct Service Delivery: accept referrals from a variety of sources and gathers information as appropriate. Upon receiving referrals, meets with clients for follow-up. Receives phone calls and inquiries from individuals 60+, or their advocates, regarding availability of services, and provide information and assistance as needed. 

Examples of Office Duties: maintains office systems, prepares department payroll, and manages correspondence.

Position reports to the Executive Director.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services field, or Gerontology.
  • Two years of experience in human services or related field. Experience working with older persons preferred. Supervisory experience helpful.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid Iowa Driver’s license; must have own transportation and vehicle insurance. First Aid and CPR certification required within six months of hire.

Home Delivered Meal Driver

Deliver hot meals to homebound elderly within Story County.

Essential Functions:

  • Pick up hot meals from Mary Greeley Medical Center.
  • Deliver to homebound elderly in:
  • Story City, Roland, McCallsburg, & Zearing or
  • Cambridge, Collins, Kelly, Huxley, Maxwell, Sheldahl, & Slater
  • Keep track of mileage and hours.
  • Return Meals on Wheels bags back to Mary Greeley Medical Center

Position reports to Outreach Director/Meals on Wheels Volunteer Coordinator.
